One of the biggest drawcards to the South Coast is the fishing. Whether it’s the lake, river, estuary, beach, rocks or ocean fishing, Lakesea Park has accommodation close to them all. From the hardiest camper to the first timer who prefers a few comforts of home, Lakesea has a range of accommodation to suit all needs offering a quiet, enjoyable stay.
Nearby boat ramp facilities give Lakesea Park’s visitors access to the pristine waterways surrounding South Durras, namely Durras Lake and the South Coast’s ocean waters.
Included in the South Durras area are some of the best fishing grounds to be found on the South Coast of New South Wales including the famous marlin grounds on the edge of the continental shelf.
The colder months see cod, leatherjacket, redfish and the fun to catch sergeant baker more active. As the water temperature rises the warmer currents bring on the kingfish, marlin, tuna and sharks.
Snapper, morwong, wrasse and flathead are 'year round' fish so no matter what time of the year, your chance of bringing home a fine table fish is always present.
With the commencement of the Batemans Marine Park on 30th June 2007, the majority of the Park is still available to recreational fishing.
